Racism in America has taken many forms. In the US military, until 1948, it was both a social construct and a bureaucratic requirement.
“The Color of Faith” depicts the struggle and triumph of a White Army Captain, assigned to train 93 Black troops in 1943 Louisiana. With no inter-racial experiences to drawn from, he turns to the only available source he has to learn about Blacks: his own men.
There are successes and failures. There is both personal and official pushback against his efforts as he relies on his Christian faith and the faith of his men to shift the tide of bigotry within his regiment.
How far will his faith take him in his quest to successfully prepare his company for war? How will the tragic loss of a key member of his company change his training outcome?
